North Shore of Lake Ontario Adventure

 

The following is compliments of the Waterloo Region Nature Club.

When: Saturday March  28, 2020; full day event starting at 8:00 am

Where: Meet at the commuter parking lot on Hwy 6, just south of Hwy 401

First stop will be at the Desjardins Canal in Dundas, expect to see waterfowl ( Hooded Merganser, Double-crested Cormorant, along with American Tree Sparrow, Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers.

Second stop will be LaSalle Park in Burlington for the large concentration of Trumpeter Swans, & Gulls. The boardwalk may yield Carolina Wrens, Northern Mockingbirds, Woodpeckers, Sparrows and a chance to feed the beloved Chickadee.

Third stop will be at the Sioux Lookout Park, for the chance to see Long-tailed Ducks at close range, and " flying" underwater. Large rafts of Common Goldeneye and all three scoters are possible, plus Red-breasted and Common Mergansers, Bufflehead, and Mute Swans. 

There maybe some more stops, dependent on recent reports at Paletta Park, Bronte Harbour, Lakeshore Promenade. 

There will be lots of washroom breaks in between and a lunch stop. Make sure you pack a good lunch with some snacks if you need them. Dress for weather conditions; bring binoculars, cameras, scopes, field guide and above all your enthusiasm for a great day out!
